Our task

 

Historical Geography is the study of the changes of people and spaces over time.

This blog was created for the purpose of our module GG3043, Historical Geographies of the City in University College Cork, AY2016/17.

Our tasks, described as follows, explains the content of this blog.

Task 1: Digital Urban Maps
Using online digital archive maps, interpret the emergence of modern public spaces and their influence on the city/cities.

Task 2: Picturing the City: Photographs in Digital Archive
Using 5 photographs, paint a story of living in a city between the 19th and 20th century.

Task 3: The City: Urban Architecture and Material Culture
Using off-line sources, describe modernity in urban architecture and material culture and its effects on cities.
